The World Education Forum of
governments, development agencies, civil society and private sector working together
to achieve educational goals by 2015. The objective of the goals was to meet
the learning needs of all children, youth and adults and they are:
1.
Expanding and improving comprehensive early
childhood care and education for vulnerable and disadvantaged children.
2.
Ensuring all children, particularly girls in
difficult circumstances and ethnic minorities, have access to quality education.
3.
Ensuring the learning needs of all young people
and adults are met through equitable access to appropriate learning and
life-skills programs
4.
Achieving a 50 per cent improvement in levels of
adult literacy for women, and equitable access to basic and continuing
education for all adults.
5.
Eliminating gender disparities and equality in
education, with a focus on girls’ full and equal access to and achievement in
basic education of good quality.
6.
Improving all aspects of the quality of
education and ensuring excellence to recognize measurable learning outcomes are
achieved by all, in literacy, numeracy and essential life skills.
It is good to see strong advocacy going on worldwide
for girls and women to set measurable obtainable goals. In other countries girls
are so often over looked when it comes to education.
Audrey- I enjoyed your blog posting this week, you are so right about girls being over looked but not just in education, in many matters they are over looked. I also liked looking at all the different ways education is being improved across the globe. There were so many things I enjoyed reading this week from the web site I explored and it is nice to read others people's reponses.

ReplyDeleteHi Audrey,
ReplyDeleteIt was nice to see that early childhood education is important around the world. I'm glad to know that our countries also see the importance of providing early learning for children who may be vulnerable or disadvantaged.
Wow, it's amazing to me how we can look at the exact same website but get such different perspectives. I'm glad I took the time to read what you have posted. Two minds are better than one. I'm glad to see that countries are working together for disadvantaged children.
